The Parochial Church Council at its meeting in October 2016 approved the final phase of a three year project regarding our historic Grade 2 listed church. This project has been to provide a new extension housing a meeting room and disabled toilet, to totally retile the nave floor, provide new glass doors in the porch and to restore some of the internal stonework. The total project has cost just over £300k, all of which has been obtained through a number of funding agencies, local fundraising and individual donations. To facilitate the safe completion of the work, St Benedict’s has had to be closed and will reopen for services on Sunday 26th March 2017. Currently all services have been transferred to our sister church The Venerable Bede – details of which will appear on our calendar.
