25th May 2017
Rev’d. Paul began the evening by reading The Acts account of The Ascension, which was then followed by a quiz based on The Ascension. We tried to recognise which halves of paintings matched to complete the paintings – not as easy as it sounded (as if any wives would even consider cheating!!!) Trying to make as many words from ‘ Ascension Day’ gave differing results, the top score was 59 words! How many can you make? Have a go!
True or False facts about Ascension; well this had each group scratching their heads. A lot of guessing again but lots of laughing too.
‘A custom in Sweden is to get up early on the morning of Ascension and venture out into the woods to listen for the call of a cuckoo. It is considered good luck to hear one on this holiday.’ Would you know if this fact is True or False?
The final part of the quiz involved identifying the artists who painted the six different paintings we were shown and in which century they were painted!
The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all and we all went home knowing a few more facts about Ascension than when we began the evening.
Thank you Paul.
