Right from the beginning of the meeting, on 26th October, we knew we were in for a good humoured evening with Keith Whitehouse!
We were laughing from the start to finish with Keith’s banter and poetry. He recited a mixture of his own poetry and some written by friends and neighbours. The Black Country Bugle has published some of his poems and one called ‘Alright our Kid’ won a Black Country day prize.
His poetry was written and recited in Black Country dialect. They related to his childhood memories, and different times and people in his life. Gill Sallis, a member of our Wives Group acted out the part of Maisie in the poem ‘Alf and Maisie’.
‘Me, our kid and Mick’, Skinhead Club’, The Annual Do’,’ Winter Memories’, and ‘Elf and Safety’ were just a few of the twenty poems he entertained us with. Keith ended with ‘Smiley Face Day’ and we certainly headed home with smiles on our faces from our ‘ Bostin’ Evening with Keith!
