Red Envelopes from Iceland – What could this talk entail? Why red envelopes? Well Rob Cowell our speaker on Thursday 9th November was soon to enlighten us! His amazing photographs, along with his talk just overflowed with enthusiasm for his passion and love of Iceland
It was all to do with a special birthday surprise for Rob. All he knew was that he had to pack a warm waterproof coat and walking shoes with his suitcase. He believed it was for a long weekend in Brighton. How wrong was he! It was actually a long weekend in Reykjavik Iceland with each day holding new surprises for him. Rob’s daughter ( who had secretly taken his passport), had asked all his friends to contribute to gifts for the surprise. Hence the sixteen red envelopes. Each letter contained a golden ticket with surprises to places he was going to visit in Iceland , including meals , a visit to geysers, walking on a glacier snorkelling in a fissure, and a thermal spa treat at the Blue Lagoon, to mention just a few!
