Wombourne Wives have had a very diverse range of speakers so far this year beginning with Simon Keeling our local weatherman speaking about ‘Weather Wanders’ – wandering around clouds, rain, snow, hail and how each are formed all accompanied by wonderful photographs. Next we visited the ‘Valley of the Kings’ with Derek Coates, illustrating his talk with photographs of the different interiors of the beautiful paintings and artefacts hidden within some of the sixty plus pyramids of famous Pharaohs. Finally we learnt how to ‘Hit Your Target’ with bow maker Mark Connor explaining how to make bows and arrows, when archery started and the different types of bows and arrows you can have made by only six bow makers in the country supplying over thirty thousand archers! Anyone interested in taking it up?
Meetings are on 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at The Venerable Bede at 8pm. New members and visitors are always welcome.
Forth coming meetings:
26th April – Apley Farm talk with Lord Gavin Hamilton
